The short version

Status helps you discover nightlife, buy tickets, join guestlists and tables, and connect with people — and helps venues and organizers run their events. We only collect what we need to make that work, we don't sell your personal information, and you stay in control of what you share. This policy explains the details in plain language.

Information we collect

  • Your account & profile: your phone number (how you sign in) and anything you choose to add — name, username, email, date of birth, photo, bio, and links.
  • What you create: posts, stories, comments, messages, and the photos or videos you upload.
  • Event activity: tickets you buy, guestlists and tables you join, and your RSVPs.
  • Payments & transactions: to process payments and protect against fraud, we and our payment processor store payment tokens — including the device account number (DPAN) used for device payments like Apple Pay — along with a card fingerprint and the card's brand and last four digits, plus a record of each transaction. We never store your full card number or security code.
  • Contacts (optional): if you allow it, we use your phone contacts to help you find friends already on Status. We match them and don't keep them.
  • Location (optional): used to show nearby events, and — only if you turn on live location — to share your location with people you choose.
  • Device & usage: basic device info and how you use the app, so we can keep it running and personalize what you see.

Verifying age at events

Many events are 18+ or 21+. When you arrive, a venue or organizer may scan your ID at the door to confirm your age and identity — the same check a doorperson would do manually. This is handled through Status on the organizer's behalf and used for entry and age verification.

Getting paid (organizers & venues)

If you receive payouts through Status — for example as an organizer, promoter, or venue — our payment processor (Stripe) collects the identity and bank details required by law to pay you and handle taxes. That information goes directly to Stripe and isn't stored on our servers.

How we use your information

  • Run the app: accounts, tickets, guestlists, tables, messaging, calls, your feed, and notifications.
  • Verify age and manage entry at events.
  • Process payments and payouts.
  • Personalize your feed and recommendations — we analyze how you use the app, including with cloud machine-learning services, to do this.
  • Keep Status safe — we use automated tools to help prevent fraud and abuse and to enforce our rules. This can include linking payment information with identity-verification details to detect fraud.
  • Communicate with you and improve the product.
  • Meet our legal obligations.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these ways:

  • With other people on Status: your public profile, the people you follow, and your posts and stories. Your live location is shared only if you turn it on.
  • With event organizers & venues: when you buy a ticket, join a guestlist, reserve a table, or check in, they get the details needed to run the event (such as your name and contact info). Venues may also keep a record of your visits and spend at their venue, linked to your payment card, to recognize returning guests.
  • With trusted service providers who help us operate Status — for example payments, text messaging, maps, and cloud hosting — and only for those purposes.
  • When required by law, or to protect the safety and rights of our users, venues, and Status.

Messaging

We send texts for things like verification codes, table invites, and event updates, plus promotional texts if you opt in. You can reply STOP to opt out anytime. See our SMS & Messaging Terms for details. We also send push notifications (manage them in your device settings) and occasional email.

Your choices

  • Control your profile, privacy, location sharing, and notifications in the app's settings.
  • Opt out of promotional texts by replying STOP.
  • Access, correct, or delete your information — you can delete your account anytime in Settings, or contact us.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as under GDPR or CCPA). Just reach out and we'll help.

Keeping your information

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to run Status or meet legal requirements (for example, keeping records of transactions). When you delete your account, we remove or de-identify your information, except where we're required to keep some of it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to keep your data safe.

Children

Status is intended for adults and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13 — if you believe a child has shared information with us, contact us and we'll remove it.
